The Death of Private Yano
Private Yano suffered from malnutrition and then prostration. He kept calling the names of his family before he came to the end of his life in the tent, where it was fifty degrees below freezing. He had been drafted in Manchukuo, where he was working as a pioneer, cultivating the land. His tragic death is still so vivid in my memory.
