Funeral for Our Fellow Soldiers
Even a simple funeral for many of our fellow soldiers had to be watched by Soviet soldiers. All we could attach to our fellow friends’ bodies were a mess kit without any food and chopsticks. Clothes and other scarce possessions were shared among surviving friends so as to remember the dead. The corpses were totally naked. What a humiliating way to go! What were they feeling at the end of their lives? During the funeral without any eulogy, all of us stood there still and quietly prayed for their happiness in the other world.
