Biography of Isamu Yoshida

Born in the City of Yamatotakada in 1923

 

Work Experiences

Engaged in rice merchant business which was his family business

After demobilization, became an independent rice merchant.

Established a new movie theater called Gojyo Toei Theater, began managing it in 1959 and closed it in 1989.

 

Military Record

Enlisted in Osaka 23rd Unit as active service on Oct.23, 1944. Immediately assigned to 960th unit in Heiyo in Manchuria. Transferred to 803th unit in May, 1945. Engaged in action on August 9 in the same year, responding to the attack of the Soviet army. While proceeding from Mudanjiang to Haerbin to Wangdaohezi, came to know about the end of the war. It was August, 16.

Then was mustered in Mudanjiang and discharged. Then began a forced walk toward Soviet territory under the military order of "Going Home to Tokyo." After walking for thirteen days, reached the Soviet border. After entering the Soviet territory, engaged in mowing in the great plain. Transferred to Voloshilov at the end of April, 1946. Then was transferred again to Lastonia. Afterwards, taken to various places to be engaged in assigned labor.
