Roll-call of the Prisoners

It took about two hours to complete the roll-call of five hundred Japanese soldiers. It really showed the level of mathematical ability of the Soviet soldiers. Waiting for two hours--a hundred and twenty minutes--in a terribly weakened physical condition was way too long. Some stamped their feet, swung their arms left to right, but even such exercises would become a burden on bodies extremely fatigued. There were yellow spots here and there in the white snow because they had to urinate where they were standing. Some fell onto the ground. We all hated such bad roll-calls. How much we all wished it would end much more quickly!
