When the Soviet Army moved into Soviet territory, their jeeps and trucks going very fast, full of items they had captured from us, the Japanese army could only walk on the bumpy roads pushing the rears of the trucks. The roads were all messed up by the result of the fighting. In addition, Japanese soldiers had to wait at the side of the road when Soviet cars came by, so that they could go first. Their cars sped away, leaving black fumes of exhaust. The Soviet soldiers looked as if they were swearing at us.
