Shipping Bales
After mowing hay and piling haystacks, we were forced to bundle hay to make bales according to the quota set for the day. We were in snow falling in the freezing Siberian north wind. The groups that accomplished the quota left one by one, but other slower groups left behind had to bear with the screaming, urging voices of Soviet labor forces who pointed guns at us saying, “Keep going, Hurry up!” The bales were carried away by horses.
