Carrying Corpses Out

A few of us got permission from a Soviet inspecting soldier to carry corpses out on stretchers to the dumping ground outside the fence, even though we ourselves were feeling so weak and helpless from continuous malnutrition. We took pickaxes and shovels with us. We did what we had to do in vain in the freezing cold wind.

From the end of December, 1945, to March, 1946, we had to keep doing this.
