On the road between Hengdaohezi and Mudanjiang, we recognized so many corpses of Japanese soldiers. Most of them did not have any clothes on. The natives must have taken away their army uniforms. On their bloated bodies, there were tons of maggots. I wanted to cover them with something, but the Russian soldiers said, "No." The only thing I could do was to pray, "I sincerely believe in Amitabna (Lord have mercy on me)"; I closed my eyes for a moment to show respect, and kept walking.
